As a younger business, we are more dynamic than some of our peer group, meaning that we really are a meritocracy. There are no tenures in any given role and as soon as someone has demonstrated the ability to step up, they will be given that opportunity. Typically we like to promote from within the business, so team leaders have the experience of having performed the team members’ roles. This means we normally recruit people as Associates, however there are no hard and fast rules and we consider what suits each person individually.

If there is a typical career path, it would be to start as an Associate and work your way up through Manager and Partner to Director. However, there are numerous options along the way. These include:

  • Internship - a secondment to a member of the STW Group to develop a certain skill or knowledge area

  • Externship- a secondment to a client organisation to develop a certain skill or knowledge area, to broaden your experience and/or to help the client satisfy a specific need

  • Specialisation - become a specialist in a given area, and focus your work on that area

  • Study break - take some time out from the business to further your studies in a mutually agreed discipline to develop your skills or knowledge. There are funding arrangements available by agreement

  • Career break - take some time out from your career to refocus or recharge. In certain circumstances Straterjee may help fund this break
