Straterjee

Our aim is to provide clients with outstanding service and to do this we believe it is key to be on the client’s site an average of four days a week, which can mean long hours and travel (although many of our clients are based in Sydney). Our team works hard, as do top-achievers in most professions. Importantly though, our aim is also to make Straterjee a great and sustainable place to work, therefore lifestyle and flexibility are crucial to us. We aim for an average working week of 55 hours. If we work substantially more than this, then we take the time off at an agreed time (normally the end of the project). People working too many hours is normally a sign we’ve got the challenge and support out of balance. Therefore we keep a close eye on hours to ensure everyone is getting the balance they need.

At the start of each project we set our preferences with our team. We define core time, when everyone is available and we set boundaries when we aren’t available. Colleagues with young families often need to be home on time. Our sportspeople often need to train first thing, and some colleagues have language, dance or music classes they attend. Most commitments can easily be accommodated, making the team a fun and sustainable place to work for everyone.

We always try to be back in the office on a Friday. This allows us to link in to the Straterjee and STW community, carry out research and do some team problem solving away from the client site. Being in the office on Friday means that if you are away from home for Monday to Thursday, it can be limited to three nights.

We also negotiate lifestyle work patterns, e.g. ten month years, where people can opt to work ten months of the year for ten months pay. We are open to a range of flexible arrangements.

We all work hard at Straterjee, but enjoying our work and maintaining the balance are critical to us. The flexibility is there to make Straterjee work for you.
